Text Banking
Text banking is fast and effective because a lot of people communicate by text instead of answering their phones. You might text 1000 or more people in an hour with an open rate of 90%+ (who can ignore a text?) and a response rate of 10-24%! Phone banking and canvassing are great for face-to-face or voice-to-voice, but texting provides direct communication with a lot of voters very quickly. It's a better return on your time investment from the comfort of your own home, or while you're on the go.
Some candidates, like 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden, run their own in-house text operations which you can learn more about and volunteer for via their campaign website. If there are no texting opportunities on their websites you can always contact a campaign directly to see if they’re either working with an outside organization like the ones listed above.
